The Colorado Prevention Center Foundation is dedicated to providing financial and other support for the prevention outreach programs and for local clinical research initiatives of the Colorado Prevention Center.

2006 Inspiration Ball
The Colorado Prevention Center Foundation Board of Directors would like to thank the more than 325 individuals who attended this year’s Champions for Health Inspiration Ball.
The 2006 Honoree and recipient of the Robert W. Schrier Award is Billy Thompson. Mr. Thompson is Co-founder of “The Denver Broncos Alumni: Tackling Heart Disease and Stroke” program. This important program is designed to educate Bronco Alumni, healthcare professionals and the public about the prevention of cardiovascular disease. Mr. Thompson was inducted into the Bronco Ring of Fame in 1987, and was with the Broncos from 1969 – 1981. Mr. Thompson was a three-time Pro Bowl selection, earned All-NFL honors twice and All-AFC honors four times. He was the first player in team history to play 13 seasons with Denver, and he was the team captain for many years.
Sam Adams served as Master of Ceremonies and thoroughly entertained those in attendance. Mr. Adams is an award winning Colorado-based sports columnist with the Rocky Mountain News. He is also a television commentator and a radio talk show host on 950 AM “The Fan”.
Proceeds from the Inspiration Ball will be used to raise awareness about the Colorado Prevention Center disease prevention and community outreach programs.
2005 Inspiration Ball
The 3rd Annual Colorado Prevention Center Inspiration Ball was convened on
March 26, 2005 at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts in the Donald R. Seawell
Grand Ballroom. The event was a stunning succcess in all ways, from the "Treat Yourself Well" silent
auction to the superb cuisine and dancing to the sounds of Sudden Impact.
The proceeds from the Inspiration Ball are being used to raise awareness about the Colorado
Prevention Center (CPC) disease prevention and community outreach programs.
The 2005 recipient the Robert W. Schrier Award was Robert M. Califf, MD.
Dr. Califf is a Professor of Medicine and Associate Vice Chancellor for Clinical Research
at Duke University. He is responsible for one of the most successful academic clinical trials
research operations in the United States as Director of the Duke Clinical Research Institute.
DCRI performs numerous trials throughout the world with a broad focus in the secondary
prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
He is the editor of numerous textbooks as well as
the American Heart Journal and has authored over 600 peer review journal articles. His
expertise in addition to cardiovascular clinical trials includes health outcomes, quality of care,
and medical economics. We welcome Dr. Califf as an outstanding recipient of the Robert
W. Schrier Award.
