An important part of CPC's prevention mission is to
reach out to the community to provide preventive
health care services and health and medical
education programs.
To support this mission, we have initiated several community screening programs.
Examples of these outreach programs, funded from unrestricted donations, include:
- CPC organized and completed the PARTNERS program to identify people in the Denver area who have peripheral arterial disease (PAD). We found that 29% of the participants had peripheral arterial disease and offered them appropriate treatment and/or referrals to reduce their cardiovascular complications.
- We conducted a community health-screening program for diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, blood pressure, and vascular disease.
- With the help of a private charitable foundation, we successfully completed a large cardiovascular risk screening program in the Russian immigrant population of Denver.
- CPC performed a two-year study to evaluate the effectiveness of the influenza vaccine in a high-risk, homeless population in Denver.
