CPC Home Page The Colorado Prevention Center (CPC) is an Academic Research Organization dedicated to quality clinical research

Founded in 1989, the Colorado Prevention Center (CPC) is recognized for its expertise in comprehensive trial management for both national and international clinical research. CPC is led by Dr. William Hiatt, who is a professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado with extensive experience in the design and management of cardiovascular trials. CPC’s Executive Committee has extensive experience in industry, government and academic-sponsored trials. The CPC also has considerable regulatory experience, including Dr. Hiatt serving as the cardio-renal advisory committee chairman.

CPC distinguishes itself from other full service, for-profit CROs:

  • The CPC provides leadership in the design and oversight of clinical trials in partnership with our Sponsors. We strive to maximize the success of every clinical trial by integrating sound clinical science, Steering Committee leadership, leading to peer-reviewed publications.

  • The CPC has developed a unique quality intervention designed to minimize endpoint variability. This program allows a sponsor to conduct a more effective trial (less variability translates into more definitive signals, thereby requiring fewer subjects). This quality intervention program includes tailored training videos and reference tools designed to optimize trial conduct. Critical to the success of this program are regular on-site quality interventions with site staff, focusing on their ability to acquire complete and accurate data.

Integrated with our quality interventions, CPC provides:

As a non-profit organization the CPC translates clinical research results into clinical practice. These activities are supported by local foundations and grants from the state of Colorado.

In the coming years, CPC will continue its efforts to improve the overall management of clinical trials with specific focus on high quality data collection, while continuing our prevention work on health care practice patterns and behaviors.
