In 1989, Robert Schrier, MD, Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine
at the
University of Colorado Health Sciences Center,
formed the CPC to focus on clinical trials research and disease prevention programs.
Since then, the CPC has managed several large clinical trials under
industry sponsorship.
Full-service trials
Working with prominent pharmaceutical sponsors, we have managed numerous clinical trials, such as:
-
Appropriate Blood-pressure Control in Diabetes
(ABCD).
Sponsored by a major pharmaceutical company,
we conducted one of the largest single-site studies ever undertaken, involving
950 patients recruited from the Denver metropolitan region.
-
ABCD-2-V.
For a second major pharmaceutical company,
we continued the research begun in the ABCD trial and added a new therapeutic arm
to the study.
-
We're currently managing a multi-center trial on the effects of a
naturally-occurring compound in 180 patients with peripheral arterial
disease
(PAD)
for a major pharmaceutical company.
Specialized services
The CPC's research work is not limited to full-service trial management for industry.
We also provide specialized services to support other aspects of
clinical trials research. For example:
-
We are managing the Data and Safety Monitoring Board, which provides
safety oversight for clinical trials for several studies sponsored
by a major drug development services company.
-
We are providing data management and statistical analysis for
several studies sponsored by a fully integrated biopharmaceutical company.
-
We are also managing the database and statistical analysis of a
quality-of-life study from a large trial involving peripheral arterial disease.
-
William R. Hiatt, MD, president of the CPC, was the principal investigator
for the PARTNERS study on peripheral arterial disease; our clinic also functioned
as an investigator's site for this study.
