Director of Medical Affairs: Raymond O. Estacio, MD

RaymondEstacioRaymond O. Estacio, MD, is Director of the Medical Affairs Department at The Colorado Prevention Center (CPC), a position he has held since 1998.  His current role at the CPC is to provide scientific support in protocol development, medical safety monitoring , development and conduct of the Clinical Endpoint Committees and writing of the final study report.

Dr. Estacio is a 1989 graduate of the Indiana University School of Medicine and finished his internal medicine residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in1992. He currently maintains a staff position in internal medicine at Denver Health and is an Associate Professor of Medicine at University of Colorado, Denver School of Medicine.            

He joined CPC in 1992 as the Assistant Medical Director of its Appropriate Blood Pressure Control in Diabetes (ABCD) Trial, became Medical Director of this large clinical trial in 1995, and Co-Principal Investigator of the ABCD Trial in 2001 where he gained most of his expertise in clinical trials. Dr. Estacio is the author or co-author of numerous articles on the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease. Although still continuing research in clinical trials in cardiovascular disease, he is also involved in a number of studies focusing on improving healthcare delivery in the underserved population at Denver Health.
